Between the readings and prayers, they caught each others eye. Their gaze held. To them, in a room full of people, there was no one else. The day had finally come. No more waiting, only forever in their sight. The excitement was almost too much to bear. In just a few moments Kelsey would marry the man of her dreams and Skylar would gain the most beautiful woman he’d ever met as his wife. Their eyes said it all. They couldn’t wait.
To say Saturday was a dream would be selling Skylar and Kelsey’s Iowa Memorial Union wedding short! It was beyond amazing! I’m still pinching myself that I got to start my 2019 wedding season with such a perfect day! I went into their wedding day, not feeling like I was photographing a wedding for “clients,” but a wedding for my friends. That’s what I love about my job! I get to make amazing new friends all the time AND photograph their weddings! It’s such an honor every time!
Even though it drizzled throughout the day, you’d never know by looking at the photos! Kelsey didn’t bat an eye at what might’ve bothered most brides. When I asked her thoughts on portrait locations for the day with prospects of rain, she was completely prepared — complete with umbrella in hand if needed!
Counting their wedding day, I’ve had the wonderful pleasure of photographing these two, not just once, but THREE times since I met them in November! Every time has been all the more exciting! I love to know my couples as friends, and I can truly say Kelsey and Skylar feel like true friends. They’re trusting and oh, so sweet. They make my job as a photographer a piece of cake!
This post is a little longer than usual. I just can’t get enough of these two!! I have SO many favorites from my time with them, narrowing it down was nearly impossible! Keep on scrolling and you’ll see what I mean! 🙂
Kelsey and Skylar, you guys are awesome! Thank you for inviting me (and Joey!) into your life. It’s been a true pleasure to know you! I’m so grateful! Kelsey, you’ve got one heckuva career ahead of you, which is ah-ma-zing!! I wish you the absolute best in marriage and life! Work together and you’ll go so far!
