Indian Creek Maternity Session

February 2, 2018

Over the last five-and-a-half years, I’ve gained a lot. I married Joey and added a whole new family. Included was a new sister and few years later, a new brother. Each addition has enriched my life and expanded my heart. My love for family has grown and grown. Now, I’m gaining someone entirely brand new. A fresh little niece or nephew! Yep, that’s right—I’m going to be an aunt!!

It’s no secret family is one of my favorite things, so when Kaelee and Ryan announced they were pregnant last summer, I was ecstatic! I can’t wait for them to experience the intimate joy I felt the day Evelyn was born.  They’d talked for quite some time about growing their little family, and it’s now happening! As life goes, surprises are around every corner. A few weeks after Kaelee and Ryan’s big announcement, I started not feeling well, and for good reason. Much to our amazement, Joey and I were also expecting another little one!

With due dates only days apart, Kaelee and I’ve gotten to swap stories and share every step of this journey. Sharing this time with one of my closest girls has made the nine month adventure faster and a heck-of-a-lot more enjoyable! For me, comparing bump pics and trading appointment stories have been among the most fun things! I’m pretty sure Kaelee has the cutest, tiniest bump I’ve ever seen! Mine on the other hand is not quite so tiny…haha!

To celebrate this last trimester, Kaelee, Ryan and I ventured out into the cold Iowa woods of Indian Creek Nature Center. These two are one of the most adventurous and travel-minded couples I know. In the summer they take daily family walks with their pup, Copper, so a maternity session in the woods made perfect sense! Despite the chilling temps, I caught a few sweet moments of these sweet expecting parents to forever freeze this joyful season!

Kaelee and Ryan, in less than two months, you will be holding your son or daughter in your arms! What a surreal and incredible time as we get to raise these cousins together through all stages of life. I love you and your little one so much already, and I’m so glad I’ll be there to capture every step along the way!
