Intimate Bella Sala Wedding

August 5, 2020

I can’t believe I finally get to share my second wedding of 2020! It’s been a long year with not a lot of weddings due to the pandemic. But, exactly one year after first talking to Jenny on the phone, I got to capture her and Jake’s intimate Bella Sala wedding in Tiffin, Iowa!

The very first time Jenny and I talked, we immediately connected over our mutual love of the color purple! She assured me purple would be a big part in their wedding day — it sure was! Purple showed up in all shades and hues from their decor to flowers to Jenny’s gorgeous violet heels! Let’s just say, it was purple heaven! (if you know me for any amount of time, you know this is a big deal!)

Last fall we celebrated their engagement will a beautiful engagement session at the Palisades! I had so much fun snapping photo after photo of them dancing across the beach. It’s a little weird to think back on that time before we had any idea what 2020 was going to look like!

2020 has been a tough year to say the least. My compassion for couples like Jake and Jenny is even deeper. The wedding they planned — filled with family and friends — unfortunately had to be reduced to a select few. Despite the situation, their day was absolutely beautiful! They took advantage of the intimate guest number with an outdoor ceremony in front of the gushing waterfall at Bella Sala!

Jenny included some pretty meaningful details into their wedding day. Her “something borrowed” was their wedding date! Jenny’s grandparents were married on August 1st, so when that day fell on a Saturday, she just had to have that day! Her “something old and blue” bring tears to my eyes. Attached to her bouquet was a small blue charm for her mother who passed away a few years ago. Lastly, her “something old” was her mother’s pearl ring. I’ll never forget seeing the bond between Jenny and her dad as they reminisced over that pearl ring, which Jenny’s dad gifted to her mom many years ago.

Jenny and Jake, you two are absolutely incredible. You handled the whole pandemic situation with such grace. I wish so much that the day could’ve been exactly as you dreamed a year ago, but the day you did have was absolutely breathtaking! Thank you for allowing me into your lives. I loved meeting your friends and family who truly made your day special! I’m absolutely thrilled for you to enter into marriage together!! Hopefully you can go on your honeymoon soon for some much needed rest and relaxation!
