Lake MacBride Iowa Fall Engagement

October is truly the month of engagements! I love getting to know my brides and grooms better as we tromp through the woods looking for the perfect light. And that’s exactly what we did for Matt and Melissa’s fall engagement session at Lake MacBride State Park! Trust me, it was worth it because we found views that have me so excited!

I’ve been looking forward to this session for a long time now. When I first met Matt and Melissa, I loved them right away. If you know me, you know I’m a little on the quiet side. But, with these two, I could talk all day! We met for a morning cup of coffee while they were on a visit back to Iowa. We talked and chatted until our coffee was cold, but our hearts were warm. They are the easiest to talk to!

Since I last saw them, big things have happened in their life. Earlier this year these two were living the desert life in Arizona (I’m a little jealous!). Melissa recently graduated with her Doctorate in organic chemistry. Woah! I told her I’m totally blown away by the amount of brainpower it takes to achieve all that she has. She very humbly told me it’s not really that hard — ha! Melissa’s sweet, but I don’t for a second believe that what she does is easy! With her new degree came the search for her dream job. Melissa followed her heart to Indiana and the two of them made the move across the country!

With all the craziness of moving, Matt and Melissa decided coming home was exactly what they needed for their fall engagement session. I’m so glad they did! Both are Iowa alumni and they’re planning an Iowa wedding. Naturally it made perfect sense to do their session here as well! Catching up with them during their session was pure delight. And on top of that, we were blessed with the most spectacular sunset.  Thank you, Iowa!

Matt and Melissa, it was SO good to see you again! It’s couples like you that make my job so fun! I’m pretty sure we could’ve talked all night. You two are so enjoyable to be around! I’m counting down the days until we see each other again and you guys become husband and wife!!
