Madison Wisconsin Anniversary Session

July 24, 2019

Hey there, Friend! I’m excited to share a different type of session with you today — an anniversary session!! While weddings are always a joy to photograph; engagements and weddings are such a short period of time in the grand scheme of marriage. So, I always find it a true honor when I get to photograph anniversary sessions for couples! Celebrating current marriages can often be overlooked, but I think it’s so beautiful! Marriage is not easy and deserves to be celebrated at all stages! This Madison Wisconsin anniversary session was an extra special celebration — for my very own sister!

Kaitlyn is my sister and was (& still is!) my absolute best friend growing up. Since we’re only 15 months apart, we did absolutely EVERYTHING together. So much that it never failed we’d get asked if we were twins wherever we went!

Back when I barely knew anything about photography, Kaitlyn and her then fiance, Dillon, let me take their engagement photos! I took them out to a nearby park and celebrated their engagement with a few photos. I had NO idea what I was doing or that photography was in my future. They probably didn’t either after seeing those very early portraits from me 😉

Earlier this summer, Kaitlyn and Dillon made a pretty big move. They left Iowa for new adventures in the beautiful Madison, Wisconsin! Up until this point, they’ve lived in the familiarity of Iowa. This move is truly a new adventure for them together! With their 4 year anniversary just around the corner, we had to celebrate with an anniversary session in their new city!

I definitely fell in love with the beauty of the Wisconsin State Capitol during their session! It stands so regally in the center of the bustling city life of Madison. Its beauty making it an easy choice for a session location! Wile we were driving around the city Dillon gave me a quick tour of the University of Wisconsin – Madison campus. We absolutely had to end their session there overlooking the lake! The glowing sun reflecting off the lake surface made everything feel a whole lot more like we were at a destination vacation. So dreamy!

Kaitlyn and Dillon, it’s always a joy to capture photos for those I love most and I sure do love you guys! Thanks for sharing a bit of your new city with me (and the kiddos!)! We’ll definitely be making many, many more trips to visit! I love you guys!
