Navy Pier Chicago Engagement Session

June 8, 2018

Hey there, friend! I’ve got another incredibly beautiful engagement session to share with you today! This one is incredibly dear to me because it’s the first session I’ve traveled out-of-state to capture! Not only that, but I got to bring Joey along with me for the first time ever! He’s my favorite travel partner and our time together in the car was a rare occasion now with two kiddos at home. Joey would tell you he was my hired chauffeur and bodyguard—haha! But really, traveling with him is the best! I highly recommend taking long drives with your spouse!

When Aric and Kayla asked if I’d travel to Chicago to shoot their engagement session I couldn’t have been more excited. Beautiful skyline, unlimited location options, and an adorable in-love couple. Heck yes, I want to capture every bit of that!

A short walk from their apartment and we were in the midst of all the hustle and bustle on the Navy Pier in downtown Chicago. Crowds swarmed around us, but these two paid them no mind and went through every pose flawlessly. My first Uber ride later, we found ourselves wandering through the animal enclosures at the Lincoln Park Zoo, looking for the perfect skyline view. Literally a few miles later we caught the early sunset at North Beach. It was perfect!

Watching these two in the city, you’d never know they were Iowa natives! These sweethearts grew up on opposite ends of the state. It wasn’t until they started as students at the University of Iowa that their paths crossed! I’m so, so glad they did! After graduating, Kayla was on to more school.  So, they packed up everything and began a new life together in Chicago. Their time in this city is such a special part of their story. I’m thrilled I got to save a few memories for them!

Aric and Kayla, you guys are beyond cute! Getting to experience your city with you was incredible. I see why you love it so much. Keep enjoying your adventure! I can’t wait to capture the next chapter as you two become husband and wife!
