Private Residence Farm Engagement

February 27, 2018

The fresh, slightly melted snow clung to their shoes. Wind whipped at their faces, but their smiles warmed. Brett and Steph were extra eager to get snuggly to fight off the frigid air. As we trudged through the slush, we laughed and talked. Steph and Brett are one seriously fun couple to be around! They were extra concerned about this pregnant lady slipping on the ground. Brett even walked behind me, just in case!

While attending Iowa State University, they shared a similar friend circle. Brett thought Steph was pretty cute, so he worked up the courage and asked her to a party. She had plans. He asked her again on a later date. She was sick. Finally their friends set them up on a date—to 50 Shades of Grey.  “It was so awkward.” they both agreed. Even though the date wasn’t ideal, they bonded over the experience and kept on talking.

After graduation they moved back to his hometown. The pair purchased their first home and started working on remodeling the house. One night after work, Steph went to the house to see the “finished” kitchen walls Brett had been working on. She entered the room and was greeted by Brett and the sound of Footprints on the Moon playing in the background. He told her to turn around. Written on the unfinished wall in big letters were the words “Will you marry me?” accompanied by a heart and footprints.

Before they started dating, Brett told Steph to listen to a song (Footprints on the Moon) because he thought the first 5 seconds were so cool. As it turned out, the song was an “I love you” type song. They weren’t even a couple yet! His friends relentlessly gave them grief because Brett had no idea the type of song he’d just sent her! They laugh about it now, but that song will forever be a part of their love story! I can’t think of a sweeter way to propose to the love of your life!

Brett and Steph, you two are so fun to be around! I’m so excited to know such amazing couples like you guys! Thank you for your smiles and light humor! I can’t wait to celebrate with you at your wedding this fall!
