Whether you’re planning your wedding, trying to find motivation or just get some clarity in life, this post is for you! I’m sharing a few things I’ve discovered that help me regain motivation and get creative, even when I don’t feel like it.
Sometimes, life feels a little too crazy. Between running a business and a home, raising two kids under 3, with my wonderful husband who has a crazy 2nd shift work schedule, it can all get a little overwhelming.
But, then I remember what a blessing all of those crazy pieces of my life are. And I’m thankful! I have a husband who works his tail off to provide for us. A roof over our heads. Two crazy kiddos that I love even despite the sometimes endless screaming. And a business where I get to love on people every day. Its truly incredible when I think about it! It’s been my goal to slow down and truly appreciate all of that. Every day.
When things are crazy though, how is that possible?
This is a question I ask myself almost daily. I’ve been slowly working through it to find ways that get me motivated and feeling creative. I definitely don’t feel creative every day, but I’ve found a few things that definitely help when I do them and I just have to share it with you!
My most productive weeks happen when I do these things:
My best days happen when I follow a morning routine. Kids change things in your life. My mornings are no longer an endless time to work. I know, without fail, I have until exactly 6:30am (or sooner) to be ready to embrace everything that is parenting. So, that means I need to be prepared for the day E-A-R-L-Y. Nothing starts my day worse than being unable to get up and then waking up to a toddler demanding something from me! I need a morning routine.
My best days come after I can do the following. All before the second my little ones open their eyes.
I’m not always the best at this, but I notice a huge difference in my motivation when I plan out my big things for the week. If something I need to do pops into my head, I write it down. Then I don’t have to worry about thinking over and over again, “I’ve got to do this thing!” I take all the things I wrote down and assign them as tasks to do on certain days. It keeps me organized and worrying less!
Getting rid of visual clutter helps me feel calmer. It’s no joke! When I married Joey, I couldn’t believe how neat he was (I mean, minus leaving a plate or two in the living room 😉 )! As our relationship has progressed, I’d say he’s rubbed some of his neatness off on me! A clean space helps me refresh and focus. This looks like picking up all the toys and dishes before I go to bed every night so I can start the next day off fresh. I save that clean up for night time because that’s usually when I feel less creative and don’t feel like I’m wasting creative time!
Disclaimer: As I look at my desk right now, it’s looking less than organized. I’ve got papers, notes, memory cards, essential oils and pens all over. I’m going to take my own advice and get this cleaned up before the day is done!
Sometimes I just need a mind-shift. When things haven’t gone my way, I can feel down and lose all motivation. But, this is where the morning reading comes in! Every morning when I read God’s word, my mind is refreshed and refocused. I have a purpose and that gives me reason to reenergize and get going!
I definitely don’t know everything about productivity, but I’m slowly learning through trial and error! If you have a productivity tip for me or would just like to share some motivation with each other, shoot me an email! I love building others up and motivating them to do great things! 🙂
