Winter Kent Park Engagement

November 15, 2018

As we near the holiday season, I’m getting in the mood to decorate! Especially with the dusting of snow we got last week. With a few leaves still clinging to the trees, we had the perfect mix of seasons for Edgar and Jacy’s Kent Park engagement session. A little fall, a little winter. And, as it always seems to go, along with the snow came a drastic drop in temps and cloud-filled skies. Cue winter!

When Edgar and Jacy stepped out of their car, I felt like I walked right into a J.Crew ad. They looked impeccable! Jacy said she loves neutrals. Her vision was going for a super clean and crisp look. I think she nailed it! These two were awesome, so when I asked them to slip out of their warm coats, they did without hesitation! The cold was an extra excuse for them to get all snugly and warm — my favorite!

Jacy went to Iowa State. Edgar went to Iowa. If you’re from Iowa, then you know. When a Cyclone and a Hawkeye get together, love really does conquer all — haha! In school Jacy and Edgar each had a best friend. After school those friends married each other. For a time Ed lived with them, and what do you know. They knew of a pretty awesome girl to set him up with! It was meant to be. These two are too cute together!

A bride’s details are one of my favorite things to photograph. Especially when they hold a special meaning. Jacy’s engagement ring is the most precious heirloom. Not only does it feature the diamond that Ed pick for her, but it also hold a priceless value. The diamonds on either side of the center diamond come from two very dear women to Jacy — her mother and grandmother. These women have both played an important roll in Jacy’s life. It’s so precious that she has part of them with her at all times!

Ed and Jacy, you guys are rockstars for braving the cold! I appreciate your kindness and honesty. Those are two qualities you never want to lose! Enjoy this time of engagement. Before you know it, we’ll be together again celebrating your love! Hopefully on a much warmer day!
